Social distancing made easy
The Hengstler tico 772 totalizing counter is ideal for access control in shops
The automated access control helps shops to limit their customer numbers and to observe coronavirus social distancing rules. A door system manufacturer has, within a very short time frame, developed an access system based on the Hengstler tico 772 electronic totalizing counter. Thanks to the quick and flexible service provided by Hengstler, the project development was completed in 14 days.
The operating principle of the automatic access control is simple and effective: The tico 772 totalizing counter is preset with a value. Once the selected number of people has been reached, a relay installed in the counter blocks the entrance to the shop. It is then only possible for more people to enter the shop once a corresponding number of customers have left the shop.
Due to the new coronavirus regulations, the manufacturer had to bring its new access system to market maturity within a very short time frame. This was only possible because Hengstler produced samples of the counter and sent them to the customer within six days of the request. For a further six days, the door system manufacturer carried out tests and received new counters from Hengstler for additional tests. After just two weeks, the customer ordered 200 counters for the first series of access systems.
The Hengstler tico 772 totalizing counter was chosen because it is ideal for use in access control systems. The counter works according to the principle of pulse width or period duration measurement. It can be used in summation mode as well as in differential mode (adding/subtracting), has three presets and can be easily integrated in the application using connectors. The tico 772 allows very high counting frequencies of up to 60 kilohertz and is suitable for use as a pulse-counter, tachometer, timer, shift or batch counter. Its 48x48mm multi-coloured LCD display (6-digit) is backlit and is very easy to read.
Users can also programme the tico 772 individually and thereby optimally adapt it to their needs. Hengstler allows retailers to design their access control systems in a simple, uncomplicated way using the totalizing counter.
