By stocking the most popular M39016 relays in the basic style - such as a generic TO-5 can or .100" grid - Tyco Electronics can quickly and easily finish the relay into a specific configuration. Finishing encompasses trimming and forming the leads, adding spreaders and washers, and otherwise converting the relay into a specific part. One Phantom relay can be configured into as many as 60 part numbers.

Phantom relays are tested to M-level requirements and marked to fulfill QPL traceability requirements.
